Iceland Fire and Ice Trek

from $0.00

As an active volcano, you will regularly see geothermal activity in the form of steam and green and yellow Sulphur coming from the rocks we pass. We cross a lava field at the foot of giant red craters to get a real sense of scale on how big these eruptions can be.

    2. Day2: Reykjavik – Thorsmork

Our adventure begins with an early breakfast and briefing. We then drive to Thorsmork, an ideal place to start our adventure trek! Today’s afternoon day hike will get us to spectacular viewpoints of glaciers and rivers with plenty of photo opportunities.

Drive approx. 3 hours; trek approx 4 hours

      Night in mountain hut

    3. Day 3: Thorsmork – Fimmvorduhals

Today’s trek will take us past glaciers and along ridges with amazing views of mountains above and valleys below. When we reach the end of the plateau, our eyes gaze on the lava stream that flowed down from the eruption of Fimmvorduhals in 2010 which gives a powerful reminder of mother nature’s raw force. As an active volcano, you will regularly see geothermal activity in the form of steam and green and yellow Sulphur coming from the rocks we pass. We cross a lava field at the foot of giant red craters to get a real sense of scale on how big these eruptions can be. As we finish crossing the lava fields we go from fire to ice. Our mountain hut that evening is sandwiched between two glaciers, an amazing place to sleep!

      Trek approx. 7 hours

    4. Day 4: Fimmvorduhals – Skogar – Reykjavik

We leave our amazing hut between the two glaciers to trek towards Skogar. We pass through heaths, along the Skogaa River, through narrow moss covered gorges and waterfalls. Eventually we reach the Skogafoss waterfall, a magnificent force of nature with thousands of pounds of pressure slamming water into the pool below. When we are done with all the selfies our memory sticks can handle, we head back to Reykjavik for our celebration meal! (Night hotel, dinner not included)

      Trek approx. 8 hours

    5. Day 5: Blue Lagoons - Fly Home

Either explore Reykjavik or head off on an optional trip to the Blue Lagoon which is a thermal spa around an hour away. (Lunch and flights not included)
